BACKGROUND
MSF is Médecins Sans Frontières /Doctors Without Borders (MSF) is an international independent humanitarian medical organization which aims to deliver emergency aid to people affected by armed conflict, epidemics, natural disasters and exclusion from healthcare, offering assistance to people based on need, irrespective of race, religion, gender or political affiliation and whose actions are guided by medical ethics and the principles of neutrality and impartiality as stated out in the MSF Charter.

Médecins Sans Frontières are now seeking for its Banten Project a highly qualified candidate to fill in the position of Midwife Labuan Base.

Main Responsibility
Provide skilled based-training and assist in technical supervision on obstetric related topics and care to pregnant women and their babies especially for the adolescent.
Assist in collaboration with the Midwife in the health centers on the follow up before, during and after delivery, according to the National Standard and MSF obstetrical and reproductive health protocols, universal hygiene and newborn care standards, in order to ensure health conditions and avoid post-delivery complications.
Ensuring monitoring and evaluation of midwives on skills and quality of services provided in the health facilities.

Tasks and responsibilities:
Ensure the transfer of knowledge on the quality of services in the implementation and continuity of antenatal and postnatal care, family planning, obstetrical care (BEmONC), neonatal and management and diagnosis of reproductive tract infections in close collaboration with the medical doctor.
Collaborate with the medical doctor and /or nurse in the management of Sexual Gender Based Violence cases
Assess and ensure the referral of pregnant adolescent women from the community to the health centers for medical evaluation and/or complicated deliveries and referral to the CeMoNC facility.
Ensure hygiene and sterilization criteria (including universal precautions) are met according to National standard and MSF specifications.
Assist in ensuring that a regular and ongoing system for the supply of drugs and equipment are available for maternity activities which will include monitoring, consumption control and ordering.
Ensure that proper follow up of all newborn babies are being done from delivery until discharge, giving proper information to mothers and relatives about importance of breast feeding, vaccination and possible complications resulting from harmful traditional practices.
Ensure patients’ right to privacy and confidentiality is respected
Active participation with the midwives in the health centers in the organisation of the ward to ensure transfer of relevant information to the next shift team (specially identifying risk cases)

Experience
Desirable two years previous experience in similar jobs in the field and/or in a humanitarian agencies or other NGOs
Languages
Knowledge of other local language is desirable (aside from Bahasa Indonesia) and Proficiency in English is a must
